Obituary

J Robert Tobash, age 78, of 905 E Main Street, Hegins, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on Wednesday, September 4, 1935, in North Manheim Twp, a son of the late Peter and Anna Herbert Tobash.

He was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School and the Ford Business School, Pottsville.

He served in the US Marine Corps and the US Navy.

He was the former owner of the Tobash Insurance Agency; receiving numerous industry and company awards.

He was a member of the Most Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Tremont.

He was also a member of the Hegins Park Association, Tri-Valley Lions Club, Valley View Gun Club, and the Hegins Fire Company. He was a past member and Citizen of the Year for the Hegins Rotary Club. Bob was a founder and co chairman of the Schuylkill County Wine Festival. He was the past president of the Fred Coleman Memorial Shoot for over 20 years. Bob was an avid golfer and was the winner of this years Tobash Open Golf Tournament.

Bob's greatest joys in life were his family and serving his community.

Preceding in him in death in addition to his parents were four brothers Walter Tobash, Peter Tobash, Stanley Tobash, and Edward Tobash; and two sisters Martha Marone and Barbara Schollenberger.

He is survived by his wife Mary R Stump Tobash, to whom he was married for 54 years.

He is also survived by two sons, Michael G Tobash and his wife Amie of Pottsville, and Christopher R Tobash and his wife Katrina of Hegins; two granddaughters, Alexia Tobash and Mikaela Tobash; a sister, Helen Valinsky of New Philadelphia; a brother, Steven Tobash of Falls Church, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass was held at the Most Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Tremont, on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Paul Rothermel officiating.

A viewing was held from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the church.

Burial will be made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
