Ivan Russell Hoffner, age 85, of 1247 W Main Street, Valley View, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Schuylkill Medical Center- S. Jackson, Pottsville. He was born on Thursday, August 5, 1926, in Valley View, a son of the late Harry R and Helen S (Smith) Hoffner. He was a 1944 graduate of the former Hubley Twp High School. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre with the 11th Airborne Glider Division. He retired from Bethlehem Steel, Steelton. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. He was also a member of VFW Post 8235 and American Legions Post 575 of Valley View, and the NRA. Ivan was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Hoffner. He is survived by his wife Velma M (Ramberger) Hoffner, to whom he was married for 61 years. He is also survived by two sons Glenn I Hoffner and his wife Jan of Halifax and Brian D Hoffner and his wife Jan of Valley View; a daughter Linda A Reed and her husband Douglas of Halifax; two grandsons Andrew D Reed and Grant D Hoffner both of Halifax; two granddaughters Brittney L Reed and Rebekah J Hoffner both of Halifax, Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View on Monday, September 26, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Brian Beissel officiating. Visitation was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial was made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.
