Irene Mae Schwalm, age 103, of the Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, formerly of Valley View, died Monday, June 19th, 2006 at the Friendly Nursing Home. She was born in Valley View, on June 10, 1903, a daughter of the late Monroe and Sarah Annie (Bowers) Bixler. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View. Her husband, Millard S Schwalm, died in 1944. She is survived by one son Clair M Schwalm, Catawissa; two daughters Vera I. Kimmel, Valley View; and Dora Mae Wagner, Hegins; by 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Dorris Kimmel; by five brothers Allen, George, Ralph, Melvin, and Guy; and by five sisters Nora, Gertie, Grace, Ruth, and Rena. Funeral services were held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, with Rev. David Wagner officiating. A viewing was held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Burial was made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, PA 17983.
