Obituary

Ira "Brownie" Elvin Koppenhaver 83, of 515 E. Maple Street, Hegins, Pa. died on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville. He was born January 6, 1921 in Spring Glen, Pa., a son of the late Ira C. and Ida E. (Schwalm) Koppenhaver. He was the owner of the former Koppy's Service Center, Hegins. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins; VFW Post 8237 of Valley View, and Hegins Fire Co. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Betty J. (Miller) Koppenhaver; two brothers Calvin C. Koppenhaver of Duncannon, Pa., and Ceylon L. Koppenhaver of Hamburg, Pa.; a sister Anna Ward of Linglestown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers Warren, Ernest, and Daniel Koppenhaver, and by three sisters Ruby Reppert, Arlene Wise and Mary Artz. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hegins Area Ambulance Association, Valley View or the Hegins Fire Company, Hegins, Pa.
