Herman Robert Rhody, Sr., age 77, of 1629 W Main Street Valley View, passed away Tuesday, January 30th, 2007 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Joliett, on June 23, 1929, a son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Smith) Rhody. He was employed as a coal miner and was a Penn DOT employee for 21 years. He was a former member of the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens and the Sacramento Fire Company. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View. Surviving are his wife Arlene M (Morgan) Rhody, to whom he was married for 54 years He is also survived by a son Herman R Rhody, Jr of Valley View; by three daughters Linda M Adams of Spring Glen, Connie D Bixler and Diane Dietrich both of Valley View; by three grandsons Lamar Adams of Pottsville, Robert Rhody of Lock Haven, and Ryan Rhody of Valley View; by three granddaughters Lisa Miller of Sacramento, Kimberly Adams of Branchdale, and Tammy Dietrich of Valley View; and by five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Funeral services were private at the convenience of the family at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with Rev. Philip Sabas officiating.
