Obituary

Herbert "Dutch" Henry Mace, age 80, of 317 S 4th Street, Tower City, Pa, formerly of Spring Glen, Pa, died Saturday, April 30th, 2005 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont, PA. He was born in Spring Glen, Pa on February 19, 1925, a son of the late James F and Erma A (Weiss) Mace. He was an Army veteran of World War II receiving the Purple Heart for his service. He retired as a maintenance foreman for the former International Anthracite, Hegins Twp, Pa. He was a member of St. Matthew's (Coleman's) United Church of Christ, Spring Glen, Pa He was also a member of Gratz VFW Post 2385 and a lifetime member of the Good Sam RV Club. His wife Gloria M (Mowery) Mace died in 1982. He is survived by a companion Barbara L Schorr, Tower City, Pa; two sons George A Mace, Spring Glen, Pa and Fred L Mace, Spring Glen, Pa; one daughter Janice M Dietz, Klingerstown, Pa; three sisters Elsie E Straub, Harrisburg, Pa, Dorothy O Neubaum, Millersburg, Pa, and Betty A Shade, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; by 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; 6 step children, 14 step grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, Pa. at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 3rd, with Rev. Curtis H.E. Zemencik officiating. A viewing was held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors was made in St. Matthew's (Coleman's) Cemetery Spring Glen, Pa.
