Grace Esther Hornberger, age 87, of 316 W Walnut Street, Valley View, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her home. She was born on Sunday, May 14, 1922 in Hegins, a daughter of the late Jacob Kauffman and the late Carrie (Kroh) Kauffman. She was a 1940 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins. Grace loved music, decorating furniture, cooking, baking, needlework, and working in her flower garden and lawn. She was preceded in death by three brothers William, Charles, and Robert Kauffman; and by four sisters May Otto, Mary Eckert, Clara Ressler, and Mildred Schovel. She is survived by her husband, John A Hornberger, to whom she was married for 68 years. She is also survived by two sisters, Kathryn Deardorff and C. Irene Schovel both of Millersburg; a sister in law Anna Klouser of Pine Grove; a niece and six nephews. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. A viewing was held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
