Gladys E Fessler, age 89, of 610 Fairview Street, Pottsville, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg. She was born on Saturday, April 14, 1923, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Jonathan and Maggie Williamson Hutton. She was a 1941 graduate of the former Gilberton High School. She served in the WAVES in the US Navy during World War II. She was of the Protestant Faith. Gladys loved gardening and yard work. She was preceded in death by three brothers Oliver Hutton, Bobbie Hutton, and Donald Hutton. She is survived by her husband Russell F Fessler, to whom she was married for 65 years. She is also survived by three sons Don Fessler of Douglasville, Richard Fessler of Las Vegas, NV, and James Fessler of Pottsville; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Gerald Frey officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial was made in the Church of God Cemetery, Valley View.
