Geraldine F Masser, age 92, of Valley View, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Providence Place, Pottsville.
She was born on Sunday, October 23, 1932, in Pitman, a daughter of the late Grant F Herring and the late Alma J (Zimmerman) Herring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterman E Masser in 2012, and by a son, Kim L Masser in 1980.
She is a survived by a son, Keith E Masser and his wife Helen of Sacramento; two daughters, Cynthia S Bambara and her husband Michael of Frostburg, MD, and Kay L Chervanik and her husband Charles of Tallahassee, FL; six grandchildren, David Masser, Julie Ballay, Timothy Bambara, Thomas Bambara, Kyle Chervanik, and Carly Chervanik; five great-grandchildren, Samantha Masser, Maxwell Masser, Adelle Ballay, Gavin Ballay, and Leonardo Bambara; two sisters, Dolores Hepler and Sandra Rothermel.
Gerri was a 1950 graduate of the former Hegins Township High School. She was married for 62 years to Sterman Masser. Early in their marriage they worked side by side on the Masser family farm in Leck Kill. In 1967, they moved to Valley View to continue farming in Sacramento. Together they established Sterman Masser Inc, a family farm corporation, in 1970 where she served as Secretary Treasurer. Their legacy of Sterman Masser Inc is continuing on through their grandchildren.
Sterman and Gerri were avid road travelers, traveling the United States and flying to the Bahamas. Gerri loved her "camp" in Lycoming County. She loved to snowmobile and spent many weekends there with friends and family.
Gerri was a wonderful cook and often made her famous apple pies to share with friends and farm employees. She also loved to garden and had a green thumb when planting her flowers. Gerri was an excellent housekeeper and decorator. She had a knack for making any place where she lived look lovely.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, PA on Saturday April 19th at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Jacob's Cemetery, Pitman.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to the Kim L. Masser Memorial Scholarship for the College of Agricultural Sciences.
