Genevieve "Genie" Grimm, age 69, of Richmond, IN, formerly of Valley View, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Reid Hospital. Born January 19, 1944, in Somerville, New Jersey, to Mildred Bidewell and Herbert E. Erck Sr., she lived in Richmond, IN since 1981. Genie was a graduate of Holland Township Elementary School in Riegel Ridge, New Jersey; Del Val High School in Everittstown, New Jersey; and Empire School of Cosmetology in Easton, Pennsylvania. She worked at Gladys Beck's Beauty Salon in Peddlers Village and Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Genie enjoyed coiffing hair for theatrical productions at Riegel Ridge Community Center. In the 1970's she helped run a small organic farm in Valley View, Pennsylvania, before organic produce became popular. She was active in Cub Scouts. In 1981 she moved to Richmond, Indiana. After her boys were all in college she undertook a work in progress restoring the historic home of Micajah Henley, inventor of the roller skate, theatre seat, power screwdriver, and 5-speed transmission. A devout Christian, Genie was an active member of Central United Methodist Church and was involved in the Richmond Sewing Guild. Survivors include her husband of nearly 48 years, James "Jimm" Grimm; three sons, Jimm Grimm and his wife Lisa of Huntingdon Valley, Chris Grimm ahd his wife Angie of Alexandria, Virginia, and Ed Grimm and his wife Elizabeth of Boston, Massachusetts; one stepson, Dale Grimm and his wife Ann of Hot Springs, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Bowers of and her husband Larry of Hampton, New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Pat Erck of Olathe, Kansas; uncle and aunt, Walter and Ellen Erck; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Herbert Erck Jr. Funeral services were held at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Valley View, on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Duane Bardo officiating. A viewing was held from 1-2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial was be in St. Andrews Cemetery, Valley View.
