Frieda Lorraine (Shadle) Smith, age 77, of Kingwood, Texas, died Saturday, August 20th at St. Luke's Hospital, Houston, Texas of complications from Wegener's Disease. She was born in Hegins, Pa on August 5, 1928 a daughter of the late John S. and Lavada M. (Klinger) Shadle. She was a 1946 graduate of the former Hegins Twp. High School and received her secretarial diploma from Central Pennsylvania Business College. She was a secretary at several locations, Tri-Valley High School, Hegins, Pa, and Beauty-Pleat of La Habra, California. She was co-owner of CWI of Houston, Texas. She was very active in the Rotary and held several positions within the organization. Frieda was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her endless caring for children continued as she was a child care provider at Kingwood Country Club and in her home. Surviving are her five children Carol Green, Dillsburg, PA, Brenda Gray, Huntsville, TX, Bryan Wedde, Landrum, SC, Lori Benham and John Gibbs, both of Kingwood, TX, sixteen Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Sydney Gibbs and Melvin S. Smith and by a brother Roger Shadle. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27,2005 at Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain, Pa, with the Rev. Claude Schach officiating. A viewing was held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial was made in Fountain Community Cemetery, Fountain, Pa.
