Click here to view the Video Tribute for Forrest Forrest Reno Otto, age 83, of 215 W Walnut St, Valley View, died Thursday, May 25th, 2006 at Good Samaritan Reg. Med. Cen., Pottsville. He was born in Hegins Twp on March 9, 1923, a son of the late Arthur D and Bessie J (Bressler) Otto. He was a 1941 graduate of the former Hegins Twp. High School. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army during World War II receiving a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars for his service. He was a coal miner and a co-owner of the Hegins Mining Company, Zerbe. . He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain. He was also a life member of American Legion Post 575 and VFW Post 8237 of Valley View, a life member of the 84th Infantry Division Society, life member of the National Rifle Assoc., member of F&AM Valley Lodge 797 Valley View, Tremont Royal Arch Chapter 221, Regal Council 65 RMS, Prince of Peace Commandry #39, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Sons of the American Revolution, Tri-Valley Senior Citizens, Gratz Historical Society, and the Tri-Valley Historical Society. Surviving are his wife Grace A. (Spotts) Otto. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son David C husband of Carol Otto, Fountain; a daughter Elaine M wife of Charles Sherry, Fountain; a step son Elwood E husband of Victoria Lucas, Harrisburg; two step daughters Bonnie L wife of Donald Artz, Hegins and Kathryn R wife of Gary Siegfried, Etters; a brother Chester A Otto, Fountain; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Elsie Otto and a brother Kermit Otto. Memorial Services were held at Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain, at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 2nd, with Rev. Claude Schach officiating. Masonic Services were held at 9:30 on Friday at the church. Burial with Military Honors was made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Memorial contributions can be made to the F&AM Valley Lodge 797, Building Fund Valley View PA 17983. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
