Florence A. Wetzel, age 96, of The Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg, formerly of Valley View, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at The Manor. She was born on Tuesday, January 19, 1915, in Hegins Twp, a daughter of the late Stanton and Burdella (Kaufman) Minnich. She was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. She was a seamstress in area garment factories. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. She was also a member of the Valley View Fire Company Auxiliary and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Florence enjoyed flowers, quilting, cooking, and baking. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry S Wetzel in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a son, Preston R Wetzel; three brothers Charles Geist, Russell Geist, and Wayne Minnich; and a sister, Helen Reightler. She is survived by a daughter Nancy J Wolfe and her husband Jim of Hegins; three grandsons Scott Sitlinger of Duncannon, Alan Sitlinger of Denver, CO, and David Wetzel of Palmerton; a granddaughter Linda Wetzel of Valley View; seven great grandchildren; and a sister Elsie Neumeister of Pottsville. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial was made in St. John's Cemetery, Hegins.
