Click here to view the Video Tribute for Evelyn Evelyn M Smith, age 78, of the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Valley View passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the center. She was born on Friday, October 28, 1932, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Daniel W Miller and Verna M (Schucker) Miller. She had worked in area garment factories; she also worked for the former Starr Poultry, Valley View; and had retired from the former L & L Pheasantry, Fountain. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, sewing, needle point, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Charles R Smith, Sr., to whom she was married for 60 years. She is also survived by three sons Charles R Smith, Jr and his wife Janet of Valley View, James D Smith and his wife Nancy of Orwigsburg, and Bruce L Smith and his wife Kelley of Middletown, MD; two daughters Susan M Mattis and her husband Robert of Spring Glen and Carol A Bowman and her husband Robert of Hegins; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; three sisters Eleanor Klinger of Spring Glen, June Heim of Millersburg, and Phyllis Hepler of Norristown; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. Visitation was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. There will be no viewing. Burial was made in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento.
