Obituary

Eva D Kimmel of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Valley View passed away on Wednesday, November 18, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 99. She was born on Saturday, March 19, 1910 in Hegins, a daughter of the late Charles Ney and the late Sally (Herb) Ney. Eva was co-owner of the former Kimmel's Dairy and Restaurant of Valley View for thirty-three years. The Kimmel's operated several stands at the annual Gratz Fair and also operated a Twin Kiss Ice Cream Stand in Valley View. Eva loved to entertain. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View; where she was a member in the Choir, the quilting group, and a Sunday School Teacher. Eva was an avid card player and belonged to several card clubs. Her husband, L Allen Kimmel, passed away in 1963. She was also preceded in death by a companion, Harry Rump, in 1992 and by a sister, Nora Wentz. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Kimmel Whitman and her husband, William of Mechanicsburg; two granddaughters, Beth Whitman-Pitzer and her husband, Richard of Mechanicsburg and Jane Whitman Deitch and her husband, Dale of Dillsburg; and a great granddaughter, Abbey Pitzer. Friends greeted her family on Saturday, November 21st from 10 to 11 a.m., services began at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. Burial was be made in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. 153, Valley View PA 17983. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
