Eugene A "Skeeter" Shade, age 85, of Valley View, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on Sunday, May 31, 1931, in Valley View, a son of the late Arthur W Shade and the late Rosa M Huntzinger Shade.

He was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

He was a floor covering installer for Romberger's Furniture, prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View.

He was also a member of the Valley View Gun Club.

Skeeter was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting.

His wife Elinor E Klinger Shade, passed away in 2006.

He is survived by four daughters, Eugenie R Snyder of Valley View, Eve E Metz and her husband John of Bushkill, Elise S Stutzman and her husband Terry of Valley View, and Emily J Mattern and her husband Steven of Hegins; a son, Eric A Shade and his wife Bonnie of Hegins; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Brian Beissel officiating.

A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial was made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.
