Click here to view the Video Tribute for Ernest Ernest Roy Morgan, age 86, of Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, formerly of Valley View, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at Rolling Hills Manor. He was born on Friday, June 4, 1926, in Valley View, a son of the late Roy and Lillie Shaffer Morgan. He served in the US Army in Germany and France during World War II. Ernest was a co-owner of a coal mine with his father and brother; and had also work in several area coal mines. He retired at the age of 52 after a mine accident nearly took his life, but did claim the life of his youngest son. Because of his mining knowledge, he was offered a State Mine Inspector position, but turned down the position, unable to go back to the mines following the accident. He lived the rest of his life loving his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins. He was also a member of the Valley View Fire Company and VFW Post 8237, Valley View. Ernest enjoyed sponsoring trips to Atlantic City for senior citizens. His wife Joyce L Kissinger Morgan passed away in 2011. He was also preceded in death by a son Dennis L Morgan; a brother Clayton Morgan; and a sister Marian Motter. He is survived by a son Larry E Morgan and his wife Louise of Ashland; a daughter Brenda J Terrell and her husband Peter of Lewisburg; three brothers Chester Morgan of Hegins, Richard Morgan of Valley View, and Ronald Morgan of Millersburg; two sisters Beulah Hoy of Sunbury and Alice Erdman of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; four step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, October 29, 2012, at 11:00 am, with Rev. John Dromazos officiating. Visitation was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors was made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at 11 am on Monday, November 5, 2012.
