Edward C Lucas, age 98, of Hegins, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
He was born on Sunday, September 23, 1923, in Hegins, a son of the late H Clarence Lucas and the late Clara E (Yarnell) Lucas.
Ed worked on the family farm and later retired from the former Penn Reel, Hegins.
He was a member of St. John's "Kimmel's" Church, Ashland.
He was also a member of the Uf und Druf Hunting Camp and the White Ash Land Association both of Sullivan county.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
His wife Janet P (Wedde) Lucas passed away in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by ten siblings.
He is survived by two daughters, Lois A Hinkel and her husband David of Ashland, and Barbara D Hinkel and her husband Gary of Ashland; four granddaughters, Melissa R Clemmer of Pitman, Jill R Herb of Pitman, Jennifer L Martin of New Oxford, and Jessica L Leibig of Ashland; a grandson, Travis E Hinkel of Ashland; ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Elva Lucas of Hegins, Phyllis Zeplin of Lancaster, and Gladys Maurer of Montana; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Bonnie Yeager officiating.
A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial was in St. John's "Kimmel's" Cemetery, Ashland.
