Earl S. Deeter, age 81, of 362 Valley Road Hegins, passed away peacefully Monday, August 19, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 18, 1932 in Hegins, a son of the late Raymond and Mabel(Lucas)Deeter. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was employed as a coal miner with Hegins Mining and Reading Anthracite and also was a tractor trailer driver. He was a member of the Valley View Legion Post 575 and was an avid Ford Racing Fan and enjoyed watching his family race lawn mowers. He was preceded in death by a son David Deeter, seven brothers Mark, Clark, John, Clarence, Larry, Leonard, and Lloyd Deeter; two sisters Gladys Bloch and Beatrice Troup. He is survived by his wife Jennet (Major) Deeter, to whom he was married for 57 years. He is also survived by seven children, daughter, Nancy Hubler and her husband David of Valley View, son, Keith Deeter and his wife Debra of Tower City, daughter, Debra Leib and her husband George of RD Ashland, daughter, Kathy Salada (Mike) of Hegins, son, Kent Deeter and Sue Wolfgang of Hegins, daughter, Kelly Lane and her husband Todd of Elysburg, son, Scott Deeter and his wife Robin of Hegins; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; a brother Raymond Deeter; three sisters Edna Klinger, Grace Herb and Martha Bosco. Services will be held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home Valley View, on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dana Heckman-Beil officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be made in a family cemetery in Hegins Twp.
