Dorothy M Hoffner. age 85, of The Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg, formerly of Hegins, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at The Manor. She was born on Thursday, November 25, 1926, in Upper Mahanoy Twp, Northumberland County a daughter of the late J. Lloyd Reitz and Katie Ellen (Snyder) Reitz. She was a graduate of the former Hubley Twp. High School. She was a waitress for Elsie's Restrauant and had also worked at the former Muskin Shoe Co, Millersburg, and Sterman Masser Potatoes, Sacramento, prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento. She was also a very active member of Hegins Fire Company Auxiliary. Her husband Lester L Hoffner died in 1997. She was also preceded in death by a sister Arlene E Buffington. She is survived by two sisters Jean P Hess of Elizabethville and Lillian E Kissinger of Gratz; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Raymond Holland officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com .
