Daniel W Dietrich Sr, age 88, of 192 Oak Drive, Hegins, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 at his residence. He was born on Monday, September 4, 1922, in Spring Glen, a son of the late Harry and Vernie (Schadel) Dietrich. He was a 1940 graduate of the former Hubley Twp High School. He served in the US Army in Normandy during World War II. He was a self employed carpenter and farmer. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento; where he was a member of the choir, consistory, and a former Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of VFW Post 612, of St. Thomas, Pa. Dan enjoyed horses, reading, and agriculture. He was preceded in death by three brothers George Dietrich, William Dietrich, and Russell Dietrich; by six sisters, V.May Dietrich, Sarah Morgan, Maude Ebert, Hannah Maurer, Vera Miller, and Mary Dietrich. He is survived by his wife Ferne E (Klouser) Dietrich, to whom he was married for 60 years. He is also survived by five sons Lynn A Dietrich and his wife Joyce of Chambersburg, Forrest L Dietrich and his wife Kathy of Magnolia, TX, Daniel W Dietrich, Jr and his wife Rebecca of Pitman, Edwin J Dietrich and his wife Linda of Pine Grove, and Mark B Dietrich and his wife Diane of Hegins; a daughter Amy M Ney and her husband Russ of Hegins; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a brother Ray Dietrich of York; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento, on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Raymond Holland officiating. A viewing was held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday at the church. Burial was made in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento.
