Chester Lamar Minnich, age 81, of 410 W Main St, Valley View, Pa., died Wednesday, January 26th, 2005 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont, Pa. He was born in Valley View, Pa on March 28, 1923, a son of the late Earl and Pearl (Klouser) Minnich. He was a 1941 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serviving in the Pacific with the Army Air Corps as a Tech 5. Amoung his medals is the Pacific Theatre Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 8237 of Valley View. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Betty P. (Bonawitz) Minnich. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son William E Minnich, Valley View, Pa; three daughters Cathy A wife of James Koons, Hegins, Pa, Abbie J wife of Dennis Stiely, Valley View, Pa, and Lori L Minnich, Valley View, Pa; one brother Russell Minnich, Dillsburg, Pa.; 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson Jeffrey Stiely and a brother Richard Minnich. Memorial services were held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, Pa. with Rev. Scott Minnich officiating. Burial was made in the Church of God Cemetery, Valley View, Pa. The family request memorial contributions be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd, Suite 1010, Rockville MD 20852-9813.
