Click here to view the Video Tribute for Chester Chester Mark Hentz, age 72, of 539 Freemason Drive, Elizabethtown., formerly of Valley View, passed away Thursday, June 21st, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Valley View, on April 30, 1935, a son of the late Walter A and S. Irene (Lubold) Hentz. He was a 1953 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of the former Hentz Gulf Service Station, Valley View. He was a Charter Membership of F&AM Valley Lodge 797 Valley View and a member of the Harrisburg Consistory. He was a charter member of the Hegins Valley Jaycees and State Director 1971-1972. He was a 25 year member of the Hegins Valley View Rotary; serving one year as President and three years as Zone Chairman. He was a charter member and a life member of the Tri-Valley Lions Club; serving as President for one year; Zone Chairman; and Region Chairman. He was Vice District Governor and District Governor of the Lions District 14-U from 1996-1997. He was a member of the Tri-Valley Joint School Authority. He was a member of the Hegins Township Recreation Committee when the Community Pool was built. He was a Life Member of VFW Post 8237, a member of American Legion Post 575 both of Valley View. He was a member of the Valley View Fire Co. and the Hegins Twp Fire Police; a member of the Dutchmen Hunting Camp. He was a former member of the Pottsville Club; serving on the Board of Managers for six years and on the House Committee for three years. He served for several years on the Republican Executive Committee. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Pamela E Hentz. He is survived by his wife Nancy A (Straw) Hentz, to whom he was married for 49 years; by two daughters Debra L wife of Bruce Smeltz of Sacramento and Lori A. wife of William Leister of Quakertown; by a son Jeffery S husband of Karen Hentz of Valley View; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters Geraldine Hepler of Valley View and Janice Rissinger of Hegins. Memorial Services were held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23rd with Rev. Philip Sabas officiating. Visitation was held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. There will be no viewing. Lions Club services were held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Masonic services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be made at the convenience of the family in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.
