Obituary

Dr. Charles A Horn, Jr., age 83, of 215 Grove Drive, Hegins, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009 at his home. He was born on Thursday, June 24, 1926 in Ashland, a son of the late Charles A Horn, Sr. and the late Naomi B (Dreshman) Horn. He married Sidonia J. Lerch on June 14, 1952. He was a 1944 graduate of Ashland High School. He received his Bachelors Degree from Penn State University in 1949. He graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1954. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II. He was an active member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, where he enjoyed singing in the Men's Chorus. He practiced General Dentistry in Hegins from 1957 until the present day. During the 1970's and 1980's he received training in Orthodontics and enjoyed creating beautiful smiles for his patients. He was a member of the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, 4th District Dental Society, and a past president of the Schuylkill County Dental Society. Dr. Horn was also a past president of the Tri-Valley School Board; former Grand Tall Cedar of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Millersburg Forest. He was a member of F&AM Valley Lodge 797, Valley View. He was an avid golfer, Charlie was most proud of his two holes-in-one. He was a loyal fan of Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles football and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was preceded in death by a sister Anna Martha. He is survived by his wife Sidonia "Donna" Horn, to whom he was married for 57 years. He is also survived by two daughters Diane C Wehry and her husband Bill of Klingerstown, and Barbara L Wilker and her husband Phillip of Colorado Springs, CO; two sons David C Horn, Bethlehem and Dr John W Horn and his wife Rebecca of Hegins; grandchildren Becky Robert and her husband Chris of Wallingford, Stephanie Wehry of Eagleville, Benjamin Wehry of Klingerstown, Tyler, Zachary, and Madisyn Horn of Hegins, Kaitlyn, Sarah, and Evan Wilker of Colorado Springs, CO. Memorial Services were held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating assisted by Rev. William Danis. Burial was made in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 375, Hegins PA 17938.
