Obituary
Carrie Irene Kauffman Bensinger Schovel, a resident at the Polk Personal Care Center, Millersburg and formerly of Hegins, the Pocono Region and Greenwich, Connecticut, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the age of 96 at the Polk Personal Care Center.
She was born in Hegins, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Jacob E. Kauffman and Carrie Alverta Kauffman.
She graduated from the former Hegins Township High School in 1938 and worked as a Switch Board Operator for Greenwich High School.
She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, and First Lutheran Church, Greenwich.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Russell Bensinger and her second husband Stanley Schovel, she was the last surviving child of a family of 10.
She is survived by one son, James R. Bensinger and his wife Linda of Dublin, NH, two sisters-in-law, Erma Kauffman and Mae Kauffman of Hegins, and nieces and nephews.
A viewing was held from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View.
Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, PA 17938.
