Dr. Carole Grace Keim-Ney April 8, 1940 - December 13, 2025
Dr. Carole Ney commenced upon a new journey on December 13, 2025. She was born on Monday evening, April 8, 1940, the only child of Clarence Walter Keim (1922-1995) and Grace Bernice Kissinger Keim (1922-1999). Maternal grandparents preceding her were Issac Emanuel Kissinger (1876-1958) and Lillian "Lillie" Violet Thompson Kissinger (1900-1938). Paternal grandparents preceding her were George Walter Keim (1897-1985) and Sylva Nora Schaeffer Keim (1894-1969).
Dr. Ney began her career in education as a volunteer in her children's classroom, and later was asked to become certified as a food service manager operator in the district's cafeteria. Soon thereafter, she became an Instructional assistant in an Early Intervention Pre-School and Special Education Kindergarten classroom. It was during this time, as an Instructional assistant, that she enrolled In college as an undergraduate, and, in time, achieved certification and degrees in special education, elementary education, reading specialist, elementary school principal, supervisor of special education, and a doctorate in education/administration. For a number of years, she taught in a private school setting, the public sector, and lastly, for numerous universities, where she supervised student teachers, and instructed those seeking principal certification, master's degrees, elementary certification and early childhood certification. She also taught all disciplines within the education department at the university level.
Her involvement within the field of pedagogy allowed her to experience many factors, inclusive of membership within the Keystone State Literacy Association, President of the Chester County Reading/Literacy Association, and numerous educational organizations. During her time as a member of the Keystone State literacy Association, she became a founding member of the Pennsylvania Reading Journal, Pennsylvania Reads. She was an editor and board advisor of this journal for a number of years. She presented varied topics in Reading, through lecturing context and content, for numerous Keystone State Reading Conventions, Intermediate Units, and Universities.
The utmost importance in Carole's life are her very precious and beloved children and their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed every precious moment spent with them, and never missed an event or activity in which her children or grandchildren were involved. Carole's three children include Jeffrey Ney, Sr. and Dawn, Lisa McIntyre and her husband, Michael, Sr. and Sheila Rearden and her husband, John, as well as her grandchildren, Michael McIntyre, Jr. and his wife Meghan, Kristi McIntyre and Drew, Samantha Smith and her Husband, Tyler. Her great grandchildren include Casey Jane and Connor Michael McIntyre, and Cameron Grace Smith. She is also survived by a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Carole was preceded by her parents, grandparents, and a grandson, Jeffrey Ney, Jr. (1989-2017). A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
