Bruce D. Rothermel, age 84, of Seton Manor, Orwigsburg, formerly of Valley View and Frackville, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Seton Manor. He was born on Sunday, December 26, 1926, in Valley View, a son of the late Daniel F Rothermel and Anna Mae (Romberger) Rothermel. He served as a Merchant Seaman in the US Cost Guard. He was employed as a carpenter for several area contractors prior to his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. He was also a member of American Legion Post 0398 Frackville. Bruce enjoyed bowling and had been a member of a barbershop quartet. He was preceded in death by three wives, Rojean E (Witmer) Rothermel, Lillian (Jones) Rothermel, and Rebecca (Redinger) Rothermel; a son, David W Rothermel; five brothers, Paul Rothermel, Ivan Rothermel, Clair Rothermel, Lee Rothermel, and Wayne Rothermel; two sisters, Lila Strasico and Valeria Scanlon; and a companion Rosemary Chrin. He is survived by five daughters Sandra L Clark and her husband William of Mechanicsburg, Carolyn R Gentry and her husband Bruce of Van Buren, Ark, Pamela E Davis and her husband David of Virginia, Jane L Milliran of New Jersey, and Teresa Scarletti and her husband Richard of Pen Argle; a step son Ronald Redinger of New Jersey; thirteen grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a sister Joan Kramer of Auburn; two brothers Ray Rothermel of Stanford, Conn. and Roger Rothermel of Alexandria, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Friday, January 14, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Burial was made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.
