Betty K Reed. age 87, of 2649 Main Street, Spring Glen, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at Manor Care, Pottsville. She was born on Tuesday, April 1, 1924, in Hegins Twp, a daughter of the late Willard and Esther Bossler Rissinger. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Hubley Twp High School. She was a seamstress for area garment factories prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Matthew's "Coleman's" UCC Church, Spring Glen; where she served as church organist for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Lykens Glen Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ethan A Reed in 2001. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Willard Rissinger, Robert Rissinger, and Donald Rissinger. She is survived by son D. Randall Reed and his wife Judy of Spring Glen, PA; a daughter Kathleen S Jordan and her husband John of Hegins; four grandchildren Pamela Coffey and her husband Robert of Basking Ridge NJ, Scott Reed and his wife Melina of Clinton NJ, and John Jordan and Lexus Jordan of Hegins; four great grandchildren; and a sister Esther Williams of Valley View. Funeral services were held at St. Matthew's "Coleman's" UCC Church, Spring Glen, on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. Order of Eastern Star services was held at 10:45 am at the church. Burial was made in St. Matthew's "Coleman's" Cemetery, Spring Glen.
