Click here to view the Video Tribute for Betty Betty M Geist, age 86, of 605 E Mountain Road, Hegins, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Thursday, September 10, 1925, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Clarence H Lesher and Emma D Snyder Lesher. She was a seamstress for the former Amy Sportsware, Valley View prior to her retirement. She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain. She was also a member of the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens and the Tri-Valley CB Club. Betty enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, collecting tea pots, taking bus trips, and spending time with her family.. He husband Russell P Geist passed away in 2009. She was also preceded in death by a brother Robert Lesher; and two step brothers Roy Shoop and Ralph Shoop. She is survived by a son Leroy A Geist and his wife Cynthia "Dolly" of Hegins; a daughter Betty L Searles and her husband Don of Garner NC; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; a brother Guy Lesher of Hegins; two sisters Ada Wehry and Sarah Hornberger both of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Claude Schach officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial was made in Fountain Community Cemetery.
