Betty V Becker, age 81, of 717 W Main Street, Valley View, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at York Terrace Nursing Center, Pottsville. She was born on Monday, November 18, 1929, in Hegins Twp, a daughter of the late Elmer L and Annie B Troup Shoffler. She was a 1947 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. She was a receptionist at the former Tri-Valley Medical Building until her retirement. She was a member of Weishample Church of God; where she was the president of the Ladies Group for many years. She was also a member of the Smithsonian Society. Betty was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed birds and flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard F Becker in 2006. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Robert Shoffler and Donald Shoffler, and a sister Anna Shoffler. She is survived by a daughter Roxanne M Wenrich of Hegins; a son Dr Ward G Becker and his wife Linda of Kutztown; two grandsons David E Wenrich, Jr of Tower City and Matthew D Becker of Kutztown; three granddaughters Dawn R Wenrich of Valley View, Susan M Hillman of Casselbury, FL, and Amanda J Wenrich of Brandon, VT; a great grandson David E Wenrich, III of Tower City; three great granddaughters Caitlyn A Zerby of Tower City, Annie J Wenrich of Valley View, and Madelyn R Hillman of Casselbury, FL; a brother Calvin Shoffler of Tower City; a sister Ellen Topolsky of Ranshaw; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Ron Murhon officiating. Visitation was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be made at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
