Bette C Bixler, age 87, of 1715 W Maple Street, Valley View, formerly of Hegins, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at her residence. She was born on Tuesday, May 27, 1924, in Spring Glen, a daughter of the late James D and Jemima R (Klinger) Klinger. She was a 1941 graduate of the former Hubley Twp High School. She was a seamstress in area garment factories and had also worked at the former Mitchell's Bakery, Valley View. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View. She was also a member of Hillside SPCA, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Bette volunteered for Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville and for Diakon Volunteer Home Care, and had been very active in her church.. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin L Bixer in 1989. She is survived by a sister Lena M Kessler of Millersburg; several nieces and nephews; and friends Sandra and David Thomas of Valley View, Brooke Ellinger of Hegins, and Dave, Carla, and Tiffany Bohner of Valley View. Services were held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, on Friday, November 4, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Philip Sabas officiating. Visitation was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday at the church. Burial was made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.
