Bertha Edna Schmoltze, age 97, of The Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, formerly of Valley View and Willow Grove, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at The Friendly Nursing Home. She was born on Thursday, September 14, 1911 in Valley View, a daughter of the late Alger Koppenhaver and the late Edna (Miller) Koppenhaver. She was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. She was of the Protestant Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Schmoltze in 1981; by three brothers Roy, Melvin, and John Koppenhaver; and by a sister Minerva Umholtz. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View, on Tuesday, Jan. 20th, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater PA Chapter, 3544 N Progress Ave, Ste 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
