Allen A. Rothermel
Allen A. "Poof" Rothermel , age 75, of 4325 Upper Road, Shamokin, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Sunbury Hospital.
He was born on Monday, July 11, 1938, in Shamokin, PA, a son of the late John and Ivy (Zimmerman) Rothermel.
He operated a pay loader and coal breaker for Split Vein Coal Company prior to his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the East Cameron Township Fire Company and in his younger years enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Kerstetter and an infant brother Norman Rothermel.
He is survived by a daughter Bonnie Collier and her husband Douglas of Gowen City; a son Jeff Rothermel and his wife Alexis of Gowen City; two brothers Paul "Wimp" Rothermel of Gowen City and Ray "Fat" Rothermel and his wife Mae of Gowen City; a sister Carol Shinskie and her husband Russell of Gowen City; Four Grandchildren Erica Collins and her husband Scott, Tanay Kerstetter and her husband George, Ashley Sennett and her husband Al and Jenna Collier; Three Great-Grandchildren Aloysious Sennett, Jeriah Bernard and Jeremy Collins; brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gowen City on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. David Byerly officiating.
A viewing was held from 12 Noon- 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the church.
Burial was made in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, had charge of arrangements.
