Alfred W Hanna Sr, age 78, of 1531 W Maple Street, Valley View, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. He was born on Wednesday, July 31, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late George and Ruth Clark Hanna. He was a 1953 graduate of Hempstead High School, Long Island NY. He was a custodian for the Baldwin Union Free School District, Nassau County, NY, prior to his retirement. Al enjoyed animals and spending time with his dogs. His wife Barbara A Verity Hanna passed away in 2010. He was also preceded in death by a brother Robert Hanna and a sister Linda White. He is survived by two sons Alfred W Hanna Jr and Richard G Hanna both of Valley View; three daughters Barbara A Hoehn of Minersville, Ruth J Hoehn and her husband Jim of Northumberland, and Christine E Lubinski and her husband Brian of Millersburg; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and his beloved dogs Jack and Hope. Funeral services was held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Friday, November 22, 2013, at 7:00 pm, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. Visitation was held from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
