Alexander Washco, age 90, of 1459 W Main Street, Valley View, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Schuylkill Medical Center- S. Jackson, Pottsville. He was born on Monday, August 12, 1918 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Andreas Vasko and Maryanna (Kurucik) Vasko. He was a US Army Veteran and a World War II US Navy Veteran. He retired from the Personnel Department of the US Post Office in Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by a brother Michael Wasko and two sisters Anna Sim and Mary Alexo. He is survived by two sons, Albert Washco and his wife, Mary Ann of Darby and Keith Washco of Fremont, Calif.; a daughter, Christina Schannauer of Hegins; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Julie Bomberowich of Morton. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. A viewing was held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com .
