Marvin L Ruch, Sr, age 96, of 863 E Mountain Road, Hegins, formerly of Williamstown, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Schuylkill Medical Center- E Norwegian, Pottsville. He was born on Friday, March 23, 1917, in Muir, a son of the late Harry and Katie Shadle Ruch. He was a graduate of the former Porter Twp High School and had attended the former New York City Art School. He was employed as an aircraft engine mechanic for the Army Air Corp, then worked for the former Reading Railroad, and then was a sign painter and painting supervisor for Indiantown Gap Military Reservation until his retirement. Following his retirement he worked at the former L&L Pheasantry, Hegins. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins; and a former member and council member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Williamstown. Marvin enjoyed woodworking, grandfather clocks, and was an amature artist. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mae L Evans Ruch; and by two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his wife Eleanor R Koons Ruch, to whom he was married for 25 years. He is also survived by a son Marvin D Ruch and his wife Wenda of Mount Joy; a daughter Linda K Kiefer and her husband Lee of Hegins; four grandchildren; a step granddaughter; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. A viewing was held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday at the church. Burial was be made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 375, Hegins, PA 17938. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
