Marlin E "Red" Fetterolf, age 76, of 527 Chestnut Street, Hegins, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born on Sunday, February 13, 1938, in Hegins, a son of the late Robert F Fetterolf and Edna A Keim Fetterolf. He was a member of the first graduating class of the Tri- Valley High School in 1956. He served in the US Air Force as a military police officer. He was a truck driver for the former Nelson's Express, Millersburg, prior to becoming disabled. He was a lifetime member of Friedens United Church of Christ; serving on the council, cemetery board, and was the Sunday School Superintendent for several years. He was member of F&AM Valley Lodge 797 Valley View, the Harrisburg Consistory, and former member of the Tremont Royal Arch. He was also a member of American Legion Post 575 Valley View and the Hegins Area Ambulance; serving as vice president and long time president. He was the first EMT for the Hegins Area Ambulance. He was a charter member of the former Tri-Valley Jaycees, a former member of the Hegins, Sacramento, and Valley View Fire Companies, a member of the Woodman of the World Lodge of Pitman, a former member of the Tri-Valley Free Public Library, a former member of the Tri-Valley Football Booster Association, having served as a former president, and a former member of the Tri-Valley Historical Association. He was a retired member of Teamsters Union #776. Red was an avid supporter of all of the Tri-Valley Sports programs and was a diehard Penn State Football Fan. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Robert Fetterolf. He is survived by his wife Jean M Kissinger Fetterolf, to whom he would have been married for 50 years in June. He is also survived by two sons Kevin E Fetterolf and his wife Kelsey of Hegins, and Robert F Fetterolf and his fiancee Debra of Grantham; a grandson Airman 1st Class Jory Fetterolf serving in the US Air Force in England; a granddaughter Olivia Fetterolf of Lewisberry; a step grandson Matthew Runkle of Boston; a step granddaughter Bethany Runkle of Hegins; a sister Ruby F Leitzel of Gratz; a brother in law Col Forrest Kissinger, USAF Ret. and his wife Susan of Carlisle; two sister in laws Elaine Cara and her husband Patrick and Joanne Fiorilla both of Harrisburg; a very special cousin Carole Keim Ney of Pitman; a very special nephew Robert J Leitzel and his wife Cathy of Hegins; nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. A viewing was held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View and from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Friedens United Church of Christ Hegins. Masonic services were held at 8:00 pm on Friday at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Michael C Klahr officiating. Burial with Military Honors was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
