Joanne Elaine Spotts, born on June 2, 1941, in Lebanon, PA, passed away peacefully at her home in Langhorne, PA, on December 13, 2024.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Theodore Shott and Ruth (Wenrich) Shott Russell, and cherished granddaughter of the late George and Anna (Maidenford)
Wenrich of Pine Grove, PA.
Joanne was a devoted mother to her five children: Penny (Spotts) Parker of Holtwood, PA; Marlin Spotts,Jr. of Douglassville, PA; the late Stephen Spotts; Lori (Spotts) Bramlette of Langhorne, PA; and Rebekah Spotts, Esq. of Langhorne, PA. She was also grandmother to four grandsons and one granddaughter.
Joanne is survived by her sister, Kathleen Kramer-Hess of Hershey, PA, and was predeceased by her brother, Robert "Bob" C. Shott of Richland, PA.
A 1959 graduate of Tremont High School in Tremont, PA, Joanne was a cheerleader and played clarinet in the school band.
She pursued a career as an x-ray technician and married Marlin Spotts, Sr. in 1963.
Joanne dedicated many years to creating a loving home for her family while maintaining various side jobs, including Sarah Coventry and Home Interiors andamp; Gifts. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and had a keen eye for interior design, creating a beautiful home. Joanne later worked as a sales executive, working for Auto Club Cellular and for Lenox Collections, where she was a top sales representative, earning numerous awards and the appreciation of her customers. Joanne was incredibly smart, was an avid reader, and was always learning. She was always after the next good read - books were an easy and wanted gift. She highly valued education, and sacrificed greatly to ensure that all her children attended private, Christian schools and that all her children attended and graduated from college. She was a classy lady with deep and unwavering convictions. A perfectionist with very high standards for herself and for her children. Known for her quick wit and infectious smile, Joanne could be the life of the party and brought joy to all who knew her.
A woman of deep faith, Joanne was a devoted churchgoer and lived her beliefs through her actions. Throughout her life and starting very young, God allowed her to go through many difficult challenges -moved around as a child, losing a son, being a single mom, working two and three jobs to "keep everything afloat," but through it all, she never lost her faith and love for God. She remained a devoted mother and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She regularly cooked meals for needy families, even while taking care of her own family. She was always willing to listen and to encourage others, and was always willing to offer her time to help. She was a generous giver with a heart of compassion for anyone struggling. For decades, Joanne regularly gave money to feed hungry children and homeless veterans. Joanne was deeply loved and will be remembered for her unwavering faith and love for her family. She is now reunited with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and those she dearly loved who went on before her."Well done thou good and faithful servant.".
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home in Valley View, PA. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm -1:00 pm. The burial will follow in the Friedens Cemetery in Hegins, PA.
