Carl H. Klinger, 89, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children, Friday, June 11, 2021 at Hershey Medical Center.
Born on February 15, 1932, in Erdman, a son of the late Harlan and Mary Klinger.
Carl was a graduate of the former Hegins Township High School Class of 1950 and Bucknell University Class of 1954.
After college, he worked for his father at Klinger Chevrolet in Sacramento for over 40 years. He began first as an employee and later as the owner and dealer. He retired in 1995.
Carl was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C., Sacramento, where he served as a teacher, consistory member, and as a member of the cemetery association. Carl was also a member of Masonic Lodge #797 in Valley View, Harrisburg Consistory of the Scottish Rite, former board member at The Gratz National Bank and social member at the Sacramento Fire Co.
Carl was an avid sports fan and loved nothing more than watching any kind of baseball game. He loved talking to people whether it was chatting at the local coffee spot or making new friends on his travels. His most favorite topic of conversation was about his heritage and deep roots of his beloved hometown, Klingerstown, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Klinger, and brother, Paul Klinger.
Carl is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carol (Schminky) Klinger.
He is also survived by his 3 children: Sally and husband Lewis Zimmerman, Valley View; Tim and wife Wendy Klinger, Harrisburg; Jane and husband Peter Savas, Boston, MA; 10 grandchildren: Joseph and wife Amy Zimmerman, Kate and husband Kevin Fertig, Brittney Klinger, Turner and wife Bethany Klinger, Elizabeth, Perry, Hannah, Tess, Madison, Halley Savas and 4 great grandchildren: Millie Fertig, Charlotte and Ivy Zimmerman and Holden Klinger.
Services will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento, on Thursday June 17th at 11AM with Rev. Raymond Holland officiating.
A visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be immediately following the services at St. Paul's Cemetery.
