Obituary

Margaret M. Reitz, age 91, Hegins, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.

She was born on Saturday, September 5, 1925, in Mahantongo Valley, a daughter of the late Clarence and Carrie Knorr Herb.

She graduated from the former Hegins Township High School in 1944.

During her youth she worked with her family on the family farm and then worked along side her husband on their farm. Later she was employed at Twin Valley Farmers Exchange and retired from Elsie's Restaurant.

She was a member of Pine Creek United Methodist Church, Spring Glen.

Margaret enjoyed cooking, baking and trying new recipes, reading and crocheting afghans for her family.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert "Bob" Herb, and two sisters Violet Heim and Mary Reed.

Her husband Grant Reitz, passed away November 2, 2002.

She is survived by three daughters, Joan Lavis and her husband Wayne of Bloomsburg, Faye Lesher and husband Paul of Gratz, Carol Herb and husband Lamar of Valley View; one son, Steven Reitz of Hegins and special friend Carole Hepler of Spring Glen; 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren; sister-in-law Nancy Reitz, of Millersburg; as well as nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Pine Creek United Methodist Church, Spring Glen, on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 11:00 am, with Rev. W. Keith Rockwell officiating.

A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the church..

Burial was made in St. Peter's Cemetery, Fearnot.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to defray costs of building a memorial honoring St. Peter's Church at Fearnot, checks should be made payable and sent to Norman Lettich, 428 Fearnot Rd, Sacramento, PA 17968

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
