Jean B Bair, age 94, of Hegins, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born on Wednesday, November 2, 1921, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Archie Bohner and the late Bessie I Umholtz Bohner.
She was a 1939 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School and a 1943 graduate of Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia.
After college, she was hired as the first school nurse for the Tri-Valley Elementary Schools. She then worked for twenty-six years as a registered nurse for Dr Donald Malick until her retirement.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. She was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir, and was the treasurer for the church women's group.
Jean was an avid Phillies and Penn State Football Fan and enjoyed figure skating.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by an infant son and infant daughter; a grandson, Cody Bair; two step brothers Kenneth Bohner and Donald Bohner; and a step sister, Shirley Brynan.
She is survived by her husband C Wayne Bair, to whom she was married for 72 years.
She is also survived by a daughter, Sally J Bair of Hegins; a son, David W Bair and his wife Debra of Hegins; a grandson, Kyle D Bair of Hegins; three step brothers, Robert Bohner and his wife Angeline of Pottstown, Lamar Bohner of Pottstown, and William Bohner and his wife Kathleen of Emmaus; three step sisters, Joan Wegman and her husband Dr Harold of Reading, Virginia Zeigler and her husband Robert of Watertown, NY, and Lorraine Huff of Pottstown; a step brother in law, Charles Brynan of New Hanover Twp.; a step sister in law, Suzanne Bohner of Frederick; several nieces and nephews; and by her two beloved Engies Lacey and Maggie and miserable cat Miracle.
Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 11:00 am, with Rev Brian Beissel and Rev Carl Shankweiler officiating.
A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday at the church.
Burial was made in Fountain Community Cemetery.
