James E. Neumeister, age 72, of Barry Township, passed away on Tuesday, August 18 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville due to complications of a motorcycle accident on August 15. He was born on the family farm in Barry Township, a son of the late James A. and Elsie Geist Neumeister. He was a graduate of Tri Valley High School, Class of 1967. He served in the Army in combat in Central Highland, Pleiku, South Vietnam where he was exposed to agent orange. He was granted honorable discharge with numerous medals in 1971. He was a trucker for several coal and lumber companies, retiring 10 years ago from Lindenmuths Sawmill and Trucking, Taylorsville. Jim enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing UTV riding, traveling, farming, restoring antique tractors, and riding his Harley. He was a loving, quiet but honest, dependable hard working man. He is survived by his wife Mary Jean Neumeister, to whom he was married for 47 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Michelle Koppenhaver and her husband Keith of Gratz, as well as one grandson, Dustin Koppenhaver and his girlfriend Autumn Maroldt of Hegins, a sister Betty Trabosh, and her husband Joseph, of Pottsville, sister in laws Adele Shepard, Schuylkill Haven, and Pat Merwine of Williamstown; several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Celebration of life memorial service with military honors was held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, on Tuesday August 25, at 11AM with Rev. Clyde Neidhammer officiating.
