Obituary
Jack E Shade, Jr, age 66, of Gratz, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
He was born on Sunday, August 19, 1951, in Lykens, a son of the late Jack E Shade, Sr and the late Janice E Kissinger Shade.
He was a 1969 graduate of Upper Dauphin High School.
He served in the US Army Reserves.
Jack retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
He was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz.
Jack enjoyed hunting, camping, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Rodney L Shade.
He is survived by his wife Cindy L Rothermel Shade, to whom he was married for 44 years.
He is also survived by a daughter, Gwen M Babski and her husband Travis of Newport; a son, Ryan E Shade and his wife Kendra of Gratz; a grandson, Riley H Babski of Newport; a granddaughter, Madison B Shade of Gratz; a brother, Craig S Shade and his wife Sandra of Gratz; a sister in law, Jane Shade of Marysville; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 11am on Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with Rev. Gregory Lindsey officiating.
Visitation was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the funeral home.
