Ivan E Header, age 74, of Sunbury, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at his residence.
He was born on Saturday, June 8, 1946, in Ashland, a son of the late Roy Header and the late Mary (Kehler) Header.
Ivan served in the US Navy; completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy he served for twenty-six years in the US Coast Guard Reserve.
He retired from the Los Angeles Police Department.
He was a member of American Legion Post 504, Mandata.
Ivan was an avid bowler, horse shoe pitcher, and enjoyed working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia L (Weasel) Header, to whom he was married for 52 years.
He is also survived by two sons, Mark A Header of Sunbury, and Matthew D Header of Harrisburg; three granddaughters, Ashley Header of Muncy, Autumn Header of Williamstown, and Keira Header of Millersburg; a great grandson, Zephyr Heilig; a great granddaughter, Daphne Header; three sisters, Ellen Steele of Lykens, Ruth Paul of Reading, and Anna Erdman of Elizabethville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 10:00 am, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Wednesday at the church. COVID-19 policies will be followed for the visitation and the service. Masks will be required.
Burial will be made in Salem Cemetery, Weishample.
