Irene L Runkle, age 94, of Valley View, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Heritage Mills Personal Care Center, Tower City.

She was born on Tuesday, November 1, 1927, in Rough And Ready, a daughter of the late Samuel Long and the late Laura (Paul) Long.

She was a member of Pine Creek United Methodist Church, Spring Glen.

Irene was a former Girl Scout Leader, former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Charles "Lindy" Runkle, passed away in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clair Long, and three sisters, Grace Doyle, Esther Shiffer, and Ruth Lilly.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Harner and her husband Don of Phoenixville and Wendy Mervine and her husband Kris of Bel Air, MD; a son, Larry Runkle and his companion Meg Brundage of Stonington, CT; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother, Mark Long of Gratz; three sisters, Blanche Wiest of Phoenixville, Sally Shade of Elizabethville, and Karen Long of Camp Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Pine Creek United Methodist Church, Spring Glen, on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the church.

Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Spring Glen.
