Helen D Allvord, age 96, of Fountain passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at her residence.
She was born on Wednesday, February 19, 1919, in Fountain, a daughter of the late Charles Bressler and the late Ida M Eckler Bressler.
She was a 1935 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.
Helen was a farm worker and a caretaker for her mother and her sister.
She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain.
She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Tri-Valley Senior Citizens, and the Fountain Willing Workers.
Helen was an avid Phillies Fan. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and gardening.
Helen was a loving mom and gramma; she loved her Sunday get togethers and phone calls from her family.
Her husband Paul A Allvord passed away in 1992.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; by three brothers Burd Bressler, Clyde Bressler, and James Bressler; and a sister Gertie Bressler.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen P Allvord and his wife Mae of Duboistown, and Roger D Allvord and his wife Mary Jane of Hegins; four grandsons, Paul S Allvord of Trout Run, Andrew D Allvord of Hegins, Scott D Allvord of Pitman, and Michael K Allvord of Hegins; a granddaughter, Marcie R Harding of South Williamsport; five great grandsons, Zachary C Allvord serving in the US Navy, Dominic M Harding of South Williamsport, Gavin P Allvord of Trout Run, Anson A Lenker of Hegins, and Asher A Allvord of Hegins; two great granddaughters, Annika M Harding of South Williamsport and Ayla M Allvord of Hegins; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat Sam.
Funeral services were held at Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain, on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Michael C Klahr officiating.
A viewing was from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the church.
Burial will be made in Fountain Community Cemetery.
