Fayne L Sallada, Sr., age 88, of Valley View, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016.

He was born on Saturday, November 12, 1927, in Valley View, a son of the late Joseph Sallada and the late Mabel Klinger Sallada.

He was a 1945 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

He served in the US Army during World War II.

He was a coal miner for several area coal mines, prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View.

He was also a Lifetime member of the former Valley View Fire Company.

Fayne loved dealing in antiques, NASCAR, watching tv, playing checkers, and doing word puzzles.

His wife Doris J Bixler Sallada, passed away in 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents; twin infant sons; a brother Leroy "Butch" Sallada; and by two sisters Arlene Erdman and Renee Daniels.

He is survived by three sons, Ronald E Sallada and his wife Cheryl of Lakeland, FL, Fayne L Sallada, Jr. and his wife Susan of Valley View, and Robert A Sallada and his wife Debra of West Lawn; two granddaughters, Sommer L Sallada of Valley View and Cara E Snyder of West Lawn; a brother, Gary Sallada of Hegins; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Brian Beissel officiating.

Burial was made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.
