Elwyn L Boyer, age 98, of the Polk Personal Care Center, Millersburg, formerly of Pillow, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Polk Personal Care Center.

He was born on Wednesday, November 19, 1919, in Herndon, a son of the late Ramsey Boyer and the late Sallie Smeltz Boyer.

Elwyn served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He was employed at Harrisburg Steel until his retirement and then was an area rural mail carrier.

He was a member of the Pillow Fire Company where he served as former president, a charter member of VFW Post 2385 Gratz, a member of FandAM Lodge 702 Herndon and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Millersburg Forest 125, a former member of Pillow Borough Council, and former vice president of the Pillow Water Company.

Elwyn was an avid stamp and coin collector and a lifetime Phillies fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

His wife Kathryn B Fetterolf Boyer passed away in 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; two daughters, Sallie M Boyer and Nancy J Boyer: three brothers, John, Derl, and Ronald Boyer; and four sisters, Mary Schade, Arlene Dinger, Mabel Klinger, and Yvonne Dreibelbis.

He is survived by a son, Alvin R Boyer of Lykens; a daughter, Sandra K Poletti of Hegins; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, December 11, 2017, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Rick Anderson officiating.

A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in David's Cemetery, Hebe.
