Obituary
Allen G Smeltz, age 82, of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Sacramento, PA, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring.
He was born on Sunday, November 17, 1935, in Sacramento, a son of the late Samuel Allen Smeltz and the late Dorothy Louise Gilbert Smeltz.
He was a 1953 graduate of the former Hubley Twp High School, Spring Glen, and a 1960 graduate of Dickinson College, Carlisle.
Al was a economist for the State of Maryland, prior to his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of Trout Unlimited. Al was an avid fly fisherman. He loved his family and his four legged friend Bobby.
He is survived by his wife Ida M McDermond Smeltz, to whom he was married for 57 years.
He is also survived by a daughter, Carol L Reddan and her husband Todd of Olney, MD; a grandson, Adam P Reddan of Olney, MD; and a granddaughter, Paige A Reddan of Olney, MD.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento.
Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
